Maths Olympiad FAQs
Which Maths Olympiad does this prepare for?
BeadBop's practice follows the pattern and class-wise syllabus of the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), the multiple-choice maths Olympiad that many Indian schools register students for. The same skills — number sense, reasoning and word problems — help with other school Olympiads and talent-search exams too.
What is the exam pattern?
For Classes 1–4 the Level 1 paper has 35 questions for 40 marks: 10 Logical Reasoning, 10 Mathematical Reasoning, 10 Everyday Mathematics and 5 Achievers' questions worth 2 marks each. For Classes 5 and above it has 50 questions for 60 marks: 15, 20, 10 and 5 Achievers' questions worth 3 marks each. The test lasts 60 minutes.
Is there negative marking?
No. Wrong answers do not lose marks, so children should attempt every question. BeadBop's mock tests remind them of this before they submit.
Does the paper include questions from the previous class?
Yes. In the Level 1 paper roughly 60% of questions come from the current class and 40% from the class below. BeadBop's mock tests mix questions the same way; the Achievers' section always uses the current class.
Are these questions copied from past papers or guide books?
No. Every BeadBop question is generated fresh from the syllabus topics, with a step-by-step solution, so a child never runs out of new practice and never memorises answers.
How should my child prepare in the last few weeks?
Practise weak topics for 15–20 minutes a day, take one timed full mock test every few days, and review every wrong answer's solution. BeadBop's results page lists the topics to practise next.
Is it free?
You can start free with Google sign-in: the mini test and one topic in every section are free for every class. Premium unlocks every topic, full and section mock tests, and printable papers.
BeadBop is an independent practice app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Science Olympiad Foundation or any Olympiad organiser. Exam patterns are taken from the organiser's published syllabus pages.
